    Soft drinks is a common beverage widely consumed by Malaysian. With the humid, hot and dry weather in Malaysia, we usually consume soft drink to quench the thirst. From a wide variety of soft drink available in Malaysia such as 100Plus, F&N, Coke (Coca-Cola), Yeos, Pepsi, 7Up, Fanta and many more.

    There are unlimited types of Soft drink range from sparkling drink, soda drink, isotonic drink, herbal tea drink and further available in different packaging, such as bottles, can (tinned), or packet.

    The popularity of drinking soft drinks during the festive season is widely known as we’re celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, and Christmas together regardless of any races. 

    For health conscious people, there are other varieties of soft drinks offering low sugar, zero sugar such as zero sugar Coke and Diet Coke, no artificial sugar ad or healthier drinks which contain actual real juice/fruit in the soft drink.

    In a step towards addressing the problem of obesity in Malaysia, the Government has implemented a new sugar tax which will take effect on 1st July 2019. An excise tax of 40 sen per litre is levied on sweetened beverages with more than 5g of sugar or sugar-based sweetener per 100ml. This includes carbonated, flavoured and other non-alcoholic beverages.
